Data transmission via Swift

Information regarding credit transfers

For international credit transfers and separately instructed express credit transfers data contained therein is transmitted to the beneficiary's bank via the sole globally active payment information service, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) with its headquarters in Belgium.

Under the agreement between the European Union and the United States of America regarding the processing of payment transaction data and its transmission from the European Union to the United States the US authorities are permitted to access credit transfer data transmitted via SWIFT and store such data for a period of up to 5 years for the purposes of combating international terrorism. Credit transfers within the SEPA zone are excluded from this agreement.
